URRAK
Urrak, the lesser known cousin of Feni, is a traditional Goan
liquor made from cashew fruit. It is a summer drink, brewed
by the locals in their homes.
Urrak brewers go out to local forests to collect cashew. Once
the fruits are brought back, they separate it from the nut.
The fruits are then crushed and their juice is fermented. The
fermented juice is then distilled in earthen oven only once,
to retain a strong flavour of cashew. To enjoy Urrak one has
to know a brewer as Urrak is sold directly to customers, due
to its short shelf life.
